The Peloha Massage

Description

The Peloha massage is a 35 minute, physically gentle yet powerful means of relaxing, de-stressing and enlivening the body, and freeing it from aches and pains.

Basic to the method is the understanding that the body is a sacred temple which allows us to function as spiritual/physical beings on earth. The Peloha method has been developed over a 25 year period and combines elements of Classical and Polynesian massage, the Bowen Technique, Reflexology, Polarity healing, Crystal Therapy, Working with meridian lines and acupressure points, Reiki style healing, a gentle Chiropractic movement, and a spiral of 7 major and 14 minor chakras, finishing on the heart chakra.

Feedback from Peloha massages includes feeling of lightness and wellbeing, feeling re-energised, long-term aches and pains have gone, now sleeping much better, swollen legs have reduced, no longer need a walking stick, rashes have cleared, felt many hands working during the massage, saw angels/coloured lights, can hear better since the massage, depression has lifted, and after a series of Peloha massages, have lost excess weight and anaemia has diappeared.

Advantages of the Peloha method:-

Gentle on the body, so suitable for children, invalids, pregnant women and the elderly.

Does not require full undressing, so suitable for menstruating women.

Leaves the body only lightly oiled, so no need to shower before dressing.

Does not tire the practitioner, so many massages can be done in a day, keeping the cost low.

The purpose of the Peloha massage is:-

To promote feelings of PEace, LOve, Harmony and wellbeing by physically massaging the body.

To draw attention to each part of the body, so all is acknowledged and appreciated.

To consciously run healing energy through various parts of the body to clear blockages and to bring the focus to the heart.

To work in a way consistent with the working of life forces in Nature, in a rhythmic, pulsating way using cyclic movements, with periods where the hands are still and visualizations are made.

To encourage a state of reverence and meditation, to invite spiritual beings from healing realms to be part of the process and to bring about any changes they deem desirable, for instance to the DNA patterning.

Prerequisites for the three-day Peloha massage course:-

Willingness to create and maintain sacred space during the course and in future practice – purity in thought, word and action.

Willingness to participate in group meditation/visualization/affirmations.

Willingness to see your physical body and that of others as a sacred and magical temple, to honour it as such, and to expose it to appropriate touch and view.

Willingness to refrain from alcohol and narcotics for at least three days prior to and for the duration of the course, and from smoking for at least an hour prior to each session.

Willingness to attend all sessions and to be punctual, to maintain good personal hygiene, short fingernails, and not wear make-up or jewellery (other than wedding rings) during the course.

To wear simple clothing such as track suits, to drink plenty of water and be well rested on arrival.

Topics covered in the course include:-

Life forces in Nature and in the body.

Care of the patient, including when not to massage.

Preparation of the massage space and the oil.

Care of the practitioner.

A brief look at the sources and development of the method.

Demonstration of the complete massage, followed by step-by-step details and explanations.

Practice, practice, practice!

Effect

Prepare the massage oil. Avoid oils with a paraffin base. Almond, olive, sunflower oils are good, especially with a few drops of essential oil of lavender, rosemary, arnica or whatever you prefer. Have it warm in a shallow dish or squeeze bottle for easy access.

It is easier not

to get oil on clothes, walls, carpets etc

than to clean it off afterwards.

Prepare a quiet space with subdued light and only things of beauty. Cover the massage

table with a clean cover and have three large towels ready to cover the patient. Suggest a toilet trip so the patient will be comfortable over the next 45 minutes, and ask them to strip down to knickers only, or if they are comfortable with it, to take all clothes off

and lie face down without watch or necklace and with mobile phone off. Make sure your hands are clean, with trimmed nails, warm and lightly oiled.

Place pillow under ankles and

shoulders/neck as required. The patient must feel comfortable – in warm weather, only what modesty requires.

Start the music.

Rose blossom in the room is highly desirable, but only scented varieties have therapeutic value. Select rhythmic music enjoyable to both you and the patient. Music guides the rhythm of the massage.

Creating sacred space.

Whole of body

Cover buttocks and thighs with one towel, back to shoulders with a second, and legs and feet with the third. Move to the head of the table and place your hands on the patient's shoulders. Ask Raphael and the

Beings of Light to join and guide the energy,

and give thanks that it is so.

Invite a healing team you relate to and, if you speak it aloud, make sure the patient is comfortable with your choice.

Beings of Light respect our

freedom so need to be invited to join

in the process.

Left arm

Move to patient's left side, uncover the arm, and gently move it so forearm is in line with shoulders and hand is at side of the body. Raise elbow and support it with your knee so that you can get both hands under it. With lightly oiled hands and palm in contact, work the arm muscles with the thumbs moving sideways, starting at the armpit and slowly moving your hands to patient's elbow.>>> Repeat on different parts of the forearm

several times.

White light

Bear in mind that the surface blood vessels are carrying blood back to the heart, so on arms and legs

in particular,

avoid heavy movements in the opposite direction, and at the same

time remember

the energy needs to be guided in the opposite direction, so the focus moves from shoulder to hand, and thigh to foot, while the

movements are

either lateral or

predominately directed towards the chest.

>>>Guiding energy down the arm from heart to fingertips, while assisting venous blood to return to the heart.

When the forearm has been thoroughly worked, remove your knee, support the elbow underneath the joint in two hollows with two fingers of your left hand, take patient's left hand in your right, straighten

patient's arm and bend it back to the limit of its travel gently a couple of times.>>>

White light

>>>To free the flow of energy through the joint. And to activate the acupressure points in the hollows of the elbow.

>>>To circulate energy between your two hands and clear those energy channels in the patient.

Cover the arm with towel before moving to patient's wrist.

Omit in warm conditions.

Find the two hollows below the wrist, support with two fingers of your left hand, and gently flex patient's wrist to the limit of

its travel. Then use both hands to work every

muscle of every finger, finally applying gentle tension to each finger in turn.>>>

White light

Be aware of

the acupressure points in wrist and picture them receiving light from your fingertips.

>>>To facilitate energy transfer across the joints.

Cover hand with towel.

Omit in warm conditions.

Lightly brush energy from patient's heart region, across shoulder, down arm and beyond hand, and flick it off your fingers. Repeat.

further down

than necessary. With heavy bodies and small practitioners,

it may be

easier to start with the left buttock from where you are standing to finish the right hand, then

move around to

patient's left hand to do the right buttock. Otherwise, stand at patient's head and reach down to work on buttocks. Avoid anal area.

Back

Uncover and lightly oil, at patient's left hand. Starting at patient's upper pelvis, make sweeping figure of eight moves with both hands working in opposite directions across the width of the back, gradually working

your way up the spine until you reach the top

of the shoulders.>>>

Make one slow sweep with your hands down both arms to the elbow and back, cross over

to warm tops of shoulders, uncross and use

thumbs to work the upper shoulder and neck muscles.>>>

Move to head of patient, find inside edges of the shoulder blades and, starting with

patient's left, run your thumbs gently under its edge from top to bottom. Repeat with patient's right side.>>>

Keep in mind avoid pressure on vertebrae. The aim is to alternately compress and stretch laterally the two bands of back muscles.

>>>Freeing up energy flow along the spine.

>>>To warm the

forearms again, it is very pleasant to have these muscles worked – take your

time to do it thoroughly.

>>>There are 3 main acupressure points on either side in this area, activating meridians.

Back cont.

Still standing at patient's head and starting at the heart chakra, use figure of eight strokes with hands working in opposite directions, building in size until the hands are running

up and down the full length of the spine, with curves around the buttocks and the shoulders.

Now bring hands to work together under the

upper thighs and sides of lower abdomen up to the spine, back under and follow the lower ribs up to their connection with the thoracic

vertebrae, running white light from each

fingertip to the muscles between each rib, progressively working up the chest. Recontinue the long figures of eight up and down the full length of the spine a few more times, then move to patient's left hand and from the back as you started with figure of eights across the back, starting at upper buttocks and slowly working up to the shoulders, upper arms and neck, as before.
