Tom Bowen, founder of the Bowen Technique of therapeutic manipulation, was born in Australia in 1916. He left school after 8^th grade and worked as a labourer until he developed his skills as a healer, particularly of sports injuries.

He was intuitive, able to see and feel more than the physical, for example he could feel pulses of energy along nerves, and was very observant of all aspects of the physical body, and studied all the literature available to him on healing modalities. At the age of 60 he was treating 13,000 patients a year, even though he had no formal qualifications. Over the years he had 6 long-term students, which he worked with on different days, and after his death they were surprised how differently they had been taught. What is even more surprising is that their students, and even the 5^th generations of their students are still able to achieve “miraculous” results of healing from what they have learned.

The explanation seems to be that anyone who calls their work “the Bowen Technique” has access to the same spiritual healing team which Tom used, and in fact they are available to anyone who asks for their assistance.
